The AI will weave this in once, in the first 60 characters when possible.

What is a meta description?

A meta description is the short summary of a webpage that appears below the title in search results. Google uses it to give searchers a preview of what is on the page before they click. It is set via the HTML <meta name="description" content="..."> tag in the <head> of the page.

Does the meta description affect SEO?

Indirectly. Google has confirmed the meta description is not a direct ranking factor. But a compelling meta description increases click-through rate (CTR) from search results — and CTR is strongly correlated with ranking. Well-written metas on page-1 pages routinely lift them 1-3 positions over a few weeks.

Best practices for meta descriptions

  1. 150-160 characters. Google truncates around 158 chars on desktop and 120 on mobile. The AI Meta Description Generator stays in this range and front-loads the hook.
  2. Include the target keyword once, naturally, ideally in the first 60 characters. Google bolds matching query terms in the SERP, which improves CTR.
  3. Lead with the benefit, not the feature. “Cut support tickets by 60%” beats “AI-powered chatbot with semantic search”.
  4. End with a soft CTAif it fits — “Start free”, “See examples”, “Read the guide”.
  5. Write 3-5 variants and A/B test them. The AI Meta Description Generator returns 5 different angles (benefit, curiosity, specificity, authority, imperative) so you can ship one, measure CTR, then swap if needed.

Why does Google rewrite meta descriptions?

Google rewrites ~70% of meta descriptionsat the SERP level — usually because the user's specific query doesn't match what your meta is pitching. The fix isn't to write zero metas (then Google has nothing to fall back on). The fix is to write tight, specific metas that match your dominant search query. Strong descriptions still get rewritten sometimes, but at much lower rates.
